Overview

I led product strategy and UX for Flaunt, a personalized beauty e-commerce MVP. By embedding influencer credibility and tailoring discovery to user behavior, we tripled purchase intent during testing and laid the foundation for a roadmap centered on trust and retention.

The Problem

Without trust, carts get abandoned

Most beauty e-commerce platforms rely on generic catalogs, but today’s shoppers want more than products. They want validation, guidance, and confidence. Root issue: Shoppers lacked confidence and guidance.

Business need

Turn an impersonal catalog into a personalized, trust-driven shopping experience that converts first-time visitors into confident buyers.

my role

From Product Vision to Build-Ready Design

Lead Product Designer & Product Owner | Cross-functional MVP build

  • Owned end-to-end product strategy, UX, and design execution
  • Ran weekly sprint reviews and research loops
  • Partnered closely with PM, developers, analysts, and QA
  • Owned the bridge from strategy → design → implementation

The Process

Research - What actually drives a user to click “Buy”?

We ran surveys and rapid feedback loops with shoppers to uncover what drives purchase intent, and keeps users engaged beyond just browsing.

Insight

If the product was endorsed by influencers I follow, I’d feel more confident buying it.

I usually check what [influencer] says before buying, otherwise I just save it for later.

Flaunt needed to build trust into the experience, not just show products.

The SOLUTION

3 Core UX features that made the platform work

Here’s how we translated our insights into product features:

1.

Influencer integration
Embedded trusted influencer content throughout the platform including product picks, reviews, and skin routines.
This serum instantly gives my skin a healthy glow. It's a must have.

2.

Social proof triggers
Added "Most Loved" badges, user testimonials, and review snippets at key conversion points to reinforce decision-making.

3.

Featuring new brands and products
Personalized product discovery surfaced curated collections and new arrivals tied to browsing behavior, encouraging deeper exploration and higher relevance per visit.

Impact

From concept to launch: a trust-first MVP

  • Launched Flaunt’s MVP
  • In prototype tests, 3× more users expressed purchase intent when interacting with influencer-backed content vs. other versions.
  • 60%+ of users said influencer content helped them decide what to purchase
  • Personalization became the foundation for product growth
  • Final designs used for implementation and QA walkthroughs

REFLECTION

My takeaway

Grounding design in real user behavior taught me that trust signals are non-negotiable in e-commerce UX, and close cross-functional collaboration accelerates iteration and alignment.
